• To preserve Malay cultural heritage by striving to explore, trace, research, preserve and present the origins and evolution of the community's rich cultural heritage locally, regionally and internationally
• To promote understanding among the races and religions, which in turn will strengthen the basis for Singapore 's stability and ability to prosper and progress
• To showcase the historical and socio-cultural growth as well as the contributions of the Singapore Malays towards the development of the nation
• To become the point of reference for the Malay community, especially for the younger generation, to identify themselves in the context of multi-racial Singapore
• To form collaborations with other regional and international heritage centres, museums and research institutions in their programmes and exhibitions, to draw out and present similarities and differences, to enhance mutual understanding for cultural and religious harmony in Singapore
• To complement the National Institutions by providing a more detailed interpretation of the history and culture of the Malays, in addition to the broad overview as showcased by the national museums
• To revive the golden era of the Kampong Glam area as the heart of the Malay community with the Malay Heritage Centre being its focal point, with plans to bring the cultural and heritage scene to the Centre
• To strive to be a global hub which boosts the cultural and heritage of the Malay community
